You know those ads that say things like:
“For $1 a month you can send a child in Africa to school.”
Once you start paying, they do something smart.
They send you updates on how that child is doing. And they share personal stories to keep you hooked. So you continue giving.
If you sell coaching, an online course, a monthly membership site or a service business, you can do something similar.
There are certain stories you can share to keep your customers engaged. And ensure that your customers are:
- Happy they bought from you
- Continually motivated to use your product/service
- Inspired to have success and become your next great success story. (Which you can then use to motivate countless others to buy from you)
What stories can you share?
Success stories of your current customers.
For example, there is a contractor I work with every month.
I continually hear stories of how she helps other freelancers save time and get more done.
Every time I hear this, it reaffirms that the money I give her is well spent.
And it makes also think: “Man, I need to utilize this person more. They’re already doing great work but clearly there’s even more we could do together.”
This isn’t a new idea. A lot of businesses do “Member Spotlights” where they highlight the wins their customers or members are having.
Now if you do them, be sure you do one thing:
Make them valuable.
These spotlight stories aren’t about you showing off how successful your customers are.
They’re about inspiring your other customers to get results.
So don’t just go “Hey look, this person did this amazing thing!”
Show them HOW that person did that amazing thing.
Walk your customer through it step-by-step.
So by the end, they see how they can get those results for themselves.
This is what I do in my Hero’s Journey Case Studies.
It’s why they are so powerful in closing sales.
But you can use these stories after the sale as well. And they’ll help your customers feel good about buying from you. And inspired to get the most out of your product/service.
Now, you’ve already got a zillion other things to think about when it comes to growing your business.
But there is a way to get these stories automated.
So they’re going out every month like clockwork.
